Growing up queer, I struggled to find support and inclusion. My feelings of alienation contributed a great deal to my battles with anxiety, depression, and addiction. Many times, I feared that I might end up without the safety of a home or a warm meal. Those experiences profoundly affected me, and I'm very fortunate that, through my spiritual practice and the love and support of my community, I'm now able to share opportunities to help others fighting similar battles.
Being of service is a key component of any spiritual practice, and a large part of my personal service mission is supporting at-risk and unhoused youth. Today, I invite you to join me in this mission. I am proud to be partnering with Safe Place for Youth (SPY) to raise funds for at-risk youth and give them the support and hope that they need, when they need it the most.
SPY's mission is to empower young people experiencing homelessness to thrive by providing lasting, community-driven solutions that address racial and social inequity. As the lead homeless service provider for youth throughout West LA, SPY serves over 1,200 homeless & at-risk youth annually with 10 core programs aimed at meeting the unique needs of young people between the ages of 12-25. Every donation gives young people experiencing homelessness access to support and services that empower them to thrive. $25 sponsors a one-on-one counseling session and $5.50 helps sponsor a meal for unhoused and at-risk youth in need.
This fundraiser is about so much more than just good vibes or a pat on the back. It's about being part of something larger than ourselves. It's about community care. It's about providing dignity, hope, and healing to those less fortunate than ourselves. It's about changing the world, one small good deed at a time... and in doing so, changing ourselves.
